Practicing meditation does not make you into a certain kind of person. Just as there are a range of different people in the world, there are a range of different meditators each with their own personalities. One thing that practicing insight meditation will do is that it will give you a better sense of who you are, what you want out of life and how to achieve it.
This necessarily means achieving a balance between work, which pays the rent and keeps the lights on, and those activities in life that are truly fulfilling. Sometimes, those two objectives will coincide and other times they will not. Either way, learning to practice insight mediation will make you more successful on both counts because you will be running the race of life with a renewed sense of purpose.
