The Art Gallery of Ontario reflects the city scape and passersby
The simple truth of karma is that you get out of life what you put into it. The problem is if we want to receive good out of life, how do we know whether what we’re putting in is good or bad. For example, people are often surprised to learn how they are perceived by others. Life would be easier if we didn’t have to wait to learn how our actions affect others, that is, if we could get instant feedback.
People often say that art is a reflection of the society in which it was created. It is perhaps fitting, therefore, that the Art Gallery of Ontario was designed with a giant mirror running along the side of it. Just as art acts as a mirror for society, insight meditation acts a mirror for the mind. By applying mindfulness, we can observe the impact that our thoughts, speech, actions and omissions have on us and those around us in real time. Simply put, it makes us more self-aware. That allows us to become better people sooner rather than later so that we can reap the benefits of positive speech and action.
