There are times when all you have do do is wait

Sometimes our mind is so busy with all kinds of responsibilities plans and ideas. How do we make sense of all this confusion? If you think of a what it would be like to be thrown into a pool without knowing how to swim, that is the kind feeling that I’m referring to.

The standard response is to thrash around and try to keep your head above water. But to take this analogy further, what if the bottom of the pool was shallow enough that standing straight up, your head would be just below the water and standing on your toes you could put your head up to get air? Then all the thrashing around would be unnecessary, right?

What we need to do is stop thrashing around and simply, calmly observe what is the nature of our surroundings and what is happening to us right now without worrying about how we got here or where we’re going to end up. Present moment awareness gives us that grounding so that we don’t need to thrash around and then what to do next is obvious. Just breath.
